The Draper, Utah-based company said it had net income of 40 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 86 cents per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 70 cents per share.
The provider of services for managing health care accounts posted revenue of $299.9 million in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $284.5 million.
HealthEquity expects full-year earnings in the range of $2.98 to $3.14 per share, with revenue in the range of $1.17 billion to $1.19 billion.
