The Washington Mystics said Thursday they’re moving their June 7 game against the Indiana Fever from the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Congress Heights to downtown’s Capital One Arena “due to unprecedented demand.”
On Monday, the Fever selected former Iowa star Caitlin Clark with the No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA draft. That has set off clamor for Fever tickets across the league. The Mystics sold out of Fever tickets at the 4,200-seat Congress Heights arena on Tuesday. Tickets on the resale market were already fetching more than $300 for that game.
For comparison, tickets to the Mystics’ season opener against the New York Liberty are currently available for $30.
The Mystics said tipoff for the June 7 game will remain 7:30 p.m. Existing season ticket and plan holders will have their seats “relocated to similar locations” at Capital One Arena. Those who have already purchased seats for the Fever game will be given the opportunity to select their seats at Capital One Arena.…
