When people ask about a pivotal moment in my life that shaped who I am as a person, I immediately flash back 50 years ago. I was a child, dressed to the nines, swaggering into the local kiddie cabaret competition, ready to take home the top prize. I was a determined and stubborn young kid, who spent weeks leading up to that moment, staying up past bedtime, learning all the latest “Soul Train” moves to achieve something great. My late-night dancing, and determination, paid off — I won.
