The Pendry, the newest luxury hotel at The Wharf, is nearly ready for check-in

Pascal Forotti wants to be sure everything’s ready for you.

Forotti is general manager for the Pendry Washington D.C. – The Wharf, which is slated to open soon but wasn’t quite ready for overnight guests ahead of Wednesday’s celebration marking the completion of the second phase of the Southwest waterfront mixed-use development.

“The goal is that we finish everything at once, we don’t want it piecemeal,” Forotti said.

The first guests are slated to check in Oct. 26, and Forotti recently showed the Washington Business Journal around ahead of opening day. The tour included the 131-room hotel’s three food and beverage spots, including the Bar Pendry to the left of the main entrance. It’s an enclosed, intimate barroom, so you won’t find those retractable windows popular with so many of The Wharf’s other waterfront destinations catering to younger patrons.

There’s also the rooftop bar, Moonraker, which offers views of the waterfront on one end and D.C.’s monumental core on another.…
