The National Mall is considered America’s front yard and Britt Wood wants to keep it well groomed. On July 18, and in partnership with Trust for the National Mall and the National Park Service, the CEO of the National Association of Landscape Professionals — plus 300 lawn care professionals — spread more than 130,000 pounds of mulch and performed maintenance services on the Mall and Arlington Cemetery as part of its annual Renewal and Remembrance event. It marked the 26th year the association that represents over a million landscape professionals has participated in the event, tallying more than 50,000 volunteer hours.

Wood sees the event as a chance to highlight the industry he leads — one that’s experiencing a boon in interest thanks largely to pandemic-fueled appetites for green spaces.
