Graham Holdings spent nearly $400M in 2021 to expand its holdings

Graham Holdings Co. (NYSE: GHC), an Arlington holding company that formerly owned The Washington Post, spent $392.4 million in cash to acquire six total businesses across four different industries last year — five in the final quarter — adding to its already varied holdings in health care, media, restaurants, manufacturing and education.

Graham Healthcare Group (GHG) — a health care-focused subsidiary of Graham Holdings — acquired two companies in the final month of 2021. They were InTeliCare Health Services, a provider of home health services in central Florida, which will become part of GHG’s residential home health division. Currently, the division provides home health, palliative and hospice services in Michigan, Illinois and Pennsylvania, totaling 2,500 “care employees.” InTeliCare has 80 employees, all of whom will be retained.
