There’s a new plan for the former Generous George’s space in Alexandria

The long-vacant former home of Generous George’s Positive Pizza & Pasta Place in Alexandria is in line for new life. 

A permit application filed with the city seeks a change of ownership of the former restaurant at 3000 Duke St. to a limited liability company affiliated with Reef Technology, a Miami-based company that uses its network of thousands of parking lots and other facilities to open “neighborhood kitchens” to sell food from brands like TGI Fridays, Wendy’s, BurgerFi and David Chang’s Fuku. 

According to the application, the new space will be used to prepare food for delivery through third-party services such as UberEats as well as for carryout service. As the Covid-19 pandemic gutted the restaurant industry’s dine-in business, such “ghost kitchens” have cropped up in the last year and a half to capitalize on the surge in consumer takeout and use of delivery apps.
