​Here’s what will replace Sherman Pickey in Georgetown

That didn’t take long. There’s already a replacement for the recently shuttered Sherman Pickey retail store in Georgetown, and it’s extremely on brand for the neighborhood: The space will be taken over by a British antiques and decor store.

Pillar & Post will open later this spring at 1647 Wisconsin Ave. NW, in a 1,200-square-foot space. The shop comes from Daphna and Judith Peled, a mother-daughter team who are new to retail but longtime devotees of British design and decor. Miller Walker Retail Real Estate represented the tenant and Kevin Schlosberg at Schlosberg Properties represented the landlord in the lease deal.

Daphna Peled became enamored with the British style while visiting her parents in Britain, where they lived for her father’s job for 15 years.

“I loved that British aesthetic,” she said. “And in the D.C. area, there are shops focusing on French or Swedish design, for example, but there isn’t really anything like this.”
