But for some soon-to-be students at the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay, the frantic mailbox runs are becoming a thing of the past.
This year, the school is telling students the good news via the photo messaging app Snapchat.
According to local TV station WBAY, each accepted student still receives a packet in the mail, as well as a congratulatory email.
“They would definitely get a snap before they’d get their mail packet,” Katelyn Santy, who works in the university’s admissions office, told WBAY.
The school said after the students open up the Snap, many of them reply back with a selfie.
As early decisions and early acceptances get revealed, students around the country are taking to social media to spread their excitement about getting into their dream schools.
