WASHINGTON — The Colonel is making a comeback.
KFC is resurrecting Colonel Sanders for its latest ad campaign celebrating 75 years since the chain’s secret fried chicken recipe was created.
In the ads set to air on Memorial Day, “Saturday Night Live” alumnus Darrel Hammond plays the fried chicken chain’s white-suit-wearing symbol delivering a “State of Kentucky Fried Chicken Address.”
The real Colonel, Harland Sanders, founded the chain and died in 1980.
The ad marks the first time in decades that the Sanders character, played by an actual actor, has been front and center in advertisements, reports TIME.
