‘Keep Calm and Carry On’ after LivingSocial

Former LivingSocial vice president Sean Quill is moving forward with his next startup, and it’s a venture with a family focus.

The Washington Post reports that Quill is now the co-owner and operator of Leesburg-based Barn Owl Primitives, a wall decoration business started by his wife Kristi.

Kristi is the artist behind Barn Owl Primitives, which began in 2009 as a hobby for the trained teacher and has since grown to a company taking in $300,000 in revenue, which is a 100 percent increase over 2013, according to the report.

Kristi makes antique-looking handmade signs on pine with messages such as “Keep Calm and Carry On” and “Be Kind to Everyone.” And they’re quite the hit, apparently. The Post reports she has personally sold 7,600 signs online and the company has amassed an impressive following on social media.

The products are also available at big box stores like Hobby Lobby and Target, who have licensing agreements to photograph Kristi’s designs and print them on canvas or paper, according to the report. As many as 100,000 Barn Owl Primitives products have been sold this way.

Sean Quill was previously the vice president for consumer operations at LivingSocial.
