Former Redskins player blasts defensive coordinator

WASHINGTON — Hours before the Washington Redskins took the field against the
St. Louis Rams, former defensive leader London Fletcher ripped into his former
coordinator Jim Haslett, calling him “clueless” on CBS’ pre-game show.

“(Haslett) would take the ’85 Bears defense and turn them into a mediocre
defense,” said Fletcher, according to an ESPN
report
. “He has no idea what he’s doing. He’s proven year in and year out
that
he’s not a good defensive coordinator.”

Also according to the report, Fletcher claims Haslett doesn’t have Redskins head
coach Jay Gruden’s best interest at heart.

“Jay Gruden better get him out the door,” Fletcher continued, “because he’s
probably backstabbing Jay Gruden like he did everybody else.”

Fletcher retired after the 2013 season.

The war of words spilled onto Twitter, with Haslett’s son coming to his father’s
defense. “Sad someone who was respected so much and loved by my father would
publicly come out and try to ruin his career #mindblown,” Chase Haslett tweeted.

Fletcher’s response: “(Your) father has ruined plenty of people’s career.”
