WASHINGTON — A suspect in a bank robbery was arrested Monday after a pursuit that resulted in a police officer being struck by a car, as well as gunfire.
Police say a man with a gun robbed the Navy Federal Credit Union on Bluewater Boulevard in Odenton on Monday.
Lt. T.J. Smith, with the Anne Arundel County police, says the suspect got to Route 32 near Burns Crossing Road and looked like he was going to pull over, but when an officer approached the vehicle, the suspect accelerated and struck the officer.
Police then fired their weapons. The bullets didn’t hit the suspect, but he surrendered. The police identified him as Lamar Mills, 28, of Easton, Maryland.
Smith says they recovered his gun from the vehicle — it was a BB gun. They also found money.
The suspect and three officers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
