Willis misses second straight game with hurt toe

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Linebacker Patrick Willis is missing his second straight game Sunday because of a strained muscle in his left big toe.

Willis sat out at Denver on Oct. 19 at Denver, then spent the bye week rehabbing but still wasn’t ready to return for a home game against the Rams. Rookie Chris Borland earned the start in place of Willis.

Cornerback Perrish Cox is set to fill in again for Tramaine Brock, who returned against Denver after a five-game absence with turf toe. Chris Culliver is back playing Sunday after sitting out the 42-17 loss to the Broncos.

For the banged-up Rams, cornerback Janoris Jenkins is missing his second straight game with a knee injury, replaced by Marcus Roberson.
