WASHINGTON — It’s that time of year, and if you’re a fan of knocking
out
your holiday shopping list on Black Friday, there’s a new way to plan the
early-morning trip.
WalletHub is helping guide Black Friday shoppers with a
breakdown of which retailers are offering the deepest discounts.
The consumer site surveyed more than 5,500 store ads for 22 of the country’s
largest
retailers, finding J.C. Penney had the best discounts on average, at more than
65
percent.
Macy’s (53.52 percent), Rite Aid (53.34 percent) and Sears (50.19 percent)
also make the top five.
But for shoppers looking for
a
specific gift, the site suggests heading to Kmart for the best deals on
jewelry,
Office Depot for electronics and Kohl’s for toys.
The three retailers at the bottom of the list for discounts are Amazon (26
percent discount on average per item,) Big Lots and Costco.
For the most bang for your buck per visit, five
area malls have three of the department stores listed in WalletHub’s top
five.
Some of those malls are:
- The Mall in Columbia
- Dulles Town Center
- Fair Oaks Mall
- Francis Scott Key Mall (Frederick)
- Lake Forest Mall (Gaithersburg)
