WASHINGTON –At first, the Philadelphia 76er’s teamed up with Papa John’s
to
offer their fans half-off online orders for pizza the day after the team won a
game this season, but, 13 games in, they still haven’t won a game.
This is serious issue, as a promotion that never actually starts is not really
even considered a promotion at all, right? It’s sort of like “If a tree falls
in
a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?”
So in order to keep the hungry fans happy, the rules were tweaked. No longer
will Philadelphia actually have to win — the team just has to score 90 or
more
points in a game for the 50 percent discount to apply.
Well, The Sixers have done that in almost half their games in the young
season.
After the promotion’s rules were changed the team scored 90 points in yet
another loss Friday to Phoenix, and then put the fans on a fast, scoring only
83
in Saturday’s loss to the Knicks.
Their next try for that first win is at home, Monday at 7 p.m. against the
Trailblazers.
I think the Sixers are trailblazers for even trying to fix a promotion that
started off as a good idea, but so far is like putting a pizza in the oven and
forgetting to turn the oven on.
