Lt. Chuck Carafonno with Montgomery County police says more people are out and about in the dark now — but they are still acting as though it were light outside. Drivers need to slow down and everyone needs to avoid distractions.
“Habits are hard to break” but for those out walking or running, “if you don’t have light clothing on people won’t see you,” Carafonno says adding drivers need to “be extra cautious especially in those hours when kids are out playing or walking to school.”
The name of the pedestrian is the Saturday evening incident will be released once family is notified of his condition. The driver of the Nissan was not injured and has been identified as 75-year-old David Dennis Irving of California.
