WASHINGTON — A new drink is dubbed “Dewitos,” and it’s a combination of
Mountain Dew and Doritos.
PepsiCo Inc. has been testing the “nacho-flavored chips”-flavored soda on
college students.
“We are always testing out new flavors of Mountain Dew, and giving our fans a
voice in helping decide on the next new product has always been important to
us,” a spokeswoman for PepsiCo told The Huffington Post. “We opened up the DEW flavor
vault and gave students a chance to try this Doritos-inspired flavor as part
of a small program at colleges and universities.”
Steve Barnes, a freshman at Kent State University who tasted the “Dewitos”
drink, said it did taste like Doritos. Barnes, who goes by joes_nipples on Reddit posted a photo.
The company in its marketing campaigns has long promoted Doritos and Mountain
Dew as snacks to be eaten together.
Last year, PepsiCo Inc., which owns Cheetos, Fritos, Tostitos and other
snacks, had success in creating Dorito-flavored taco shells for Taco Bell.
