ROANOKE, Va. (AP) — Representatives of a proposed natural gas pipeline are heading to Roanoke County to brief officials and residents on its possible path.
They’ll appear Tuesday night at a meeting of the county board of supervisors.
The 300-mile Mountain Valley Pipeline would deliver natural gas to Virginia from rich Marcellus and Utica shale deposits. It’s a joint venture between EQT Corp. and NextEra Energy Era Inc.
The Roanoke Times (http://bit.ly/1tpfejq) reports that many residents of Roanoke County learned last week that the pipeline’s possible route had shifted from Floyd County to sections of southwest Roanoke County.
The pipeline representatives are expected to discuss that shift, among other issues.
Federal regulatory approval is required before the pipeline can be buried.
