WASHINGON — He may be Commander in Chief, but President Barack Obama is not above having his credit card rejected.
President Obama was at a New York City restaurant during the U.N. General Assembly last month when his card was declined. It turns out he doesn’t use his credit card enough, Obama said Friday while signing an executive order to tighten card security.
Luckily, Michelle Obama had hers on hand.
“I was trying to explain to the waitress, you know, I really think that I’ve been paying my bills,” Obama said Friday. “Even I’m affected by this.”

It’s not the first time Obama has been concerned about his credit. Earlier this year in Austin, Texas, he questioned whether or not his card would work for a $300 purchase, according to the Washington Post. That time, Obama’s card passed the test.
