William & Mary beats Hampton 42-14

HAMPTON, Va. (AP) — Mikal Abdul-Saboor ran for three touchdowns in William & Mary’s 42-14 victory over Hampton on Saturday.

Abdul-Saboor had 107 yards on 18 carries for the Tribe (1-1), scoring touchdowns from short range in the first, third and fourth quarters. Kendell Anderson scored two touchdowns and ran for 34 yards on eight carries.

Steve Culley completed 9 of 16 passes for 135 yards.

The Tribe led 20-0 at the break and never looked back. Leading 27-14 at the end of the third quarter, William & Mary would score twice more in the fourth on goal-line runs by Abdul-Saboor and Anderson.

Hampton’s first score of the game came on a 54-yard run by Christopher Dukes early in the third quarter. Five minutes later, Jaylian Williamson completed a 50-yard pass to Jorrian Washington for the second and final Hampton touchdown.

Williamson finished the day with 335 yards passing for the Pirates (0-2).
