MARION, Va. (AP) — Twin lights are being added to the 9/11 memorial in Marion to represent the World Trade Center’s twin towers.
A dedication ceremony for the lights is scheduled for Sept. 11 outside the Marion Fire Department during town’s annual Patriot Day.
The Bristol Herald Courier (http://bit.ly/1ua2iLq ) reports that private donors provided funds to buy and install the lights. Called “Lights of Freedom,” the lights are designed to replicate the two beams that shine on Ground Zero in New York City.
The memorial is a piece of steel salvaged from the World Trade Center after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. It was dedicated last year.
