FRONT ROYAL, Va. (AP) — A Superfund site in Front Royal is ready for redevelopment following a rehabilitation that took 25 years to complete.
The former Avtex Fibers plant closed in 1989 because of pollution concerns. The Northern Virginia Daily (http://bit.ly/ZBTRy0 ) reports that local, state and federal officials, along with former Avtex workers, celebrated the 440-acre site’s rehabilitation on Saturday.
Rep. Bob Goodlatte told the gathering that the rebirth of the site has begun.
