Update: Race officials of the 9th Annual Nation’s Triathlon in conjunction with local officials have made the decision to cancel the swim portion of the event due to a significant sewage spill in the Potomac River just north of the race venue after the heavy rain and storms Saturday night. The rest of the event will remain unchanged. For more information, visit the event’s Facebook page.
WASHINGTON — While athletes are swimming, biking and running Sunday, area drivers will be avoiding road closures.
The 9th Annual Nation’s Triathlon will be in D.C. on Sunday, and with it come thousands of athletes and spectators. The race includes a 1.5K swim in the Potomac River, a 40K bike course through D.C., and a 10K run.
The triathlon has a start time of 7 a.m., which means drivers should anticipate road closures between 6 a.m. and 1:15 p.m.
