RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — The third annual Virginia Wine Summit will be held in Richmond in October.
Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s office says the summit will be held at the Jefferson Hotel on Oct. 21.
The event will bring wine experts and industry leaders from around the country to discuss, taste, and celebrate the state of Virginia’s wine and food culture.
Panels, tastings, and discussions will be held throughout the daylong event.
Virginia is home to more than 250 wineries and is fifth in the nation for wine grape production. A 2012 economic impact study says Virginia’s wine industry contributes nearly $750 million a year to Virginia’s economy. The governor’s office says Virginia wineries and vineyards support 4,800 jobs that provide $156 million total in wages.
