Spring to the Sky wins Troy at Saratoga

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — Spring to the Sky held off Dads Caps by three-quarters of a length Wednesday in the $100,000 Troy at Saratoga Race Course.

Under meet-leading rider Javier Castellano, the 5-year-old son of Langfuhr ran 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:04.01 and paid $7.40, $3 and $2.20. Overnight rain and steady showers forced the race to be moved off the grass and onto a sloppy main track.

Dads Caps, who got into the race because of the surface switch, returned $2.30 and $2.10. Sandy’z Slew paid $2.50.

The Troy was the second stakes win of the meet for Spring to the Sky, trained by Bruce Brown for owner Anthony McCarthy. On July 20, Spring to the Sky won the Lucky Coin Stakes over the main turf course.
