Scripture reference timed to daily prayers

DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — A Bible verse that offers the formula for national healing is being linked to this July 14 and calls for twice-daily prayers.

Second Chronicles 7:14 says, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

A rally Sunday night in Davenport, Iowa, launched a prayer campaign called “If 7:14.” It urges Christians to set the alarms on their cell phones to go off at 7:14 every morning and evening so they’ll be reminded to pray twice daily for national revival.

Organizer Bob Vander Plaats said Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad declared this Monday 7/14 a day of prayer, fasting and repentance to launch the campaign. The governor’s website said Branstad would attend a 7/14 prayer event Monday at the State Capitol in Des Moines.
