BALTIMORE (AP) — The National Aquarium in Baltimore is launching a new series of events on Friday nights to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Baltimore in 1812 that inspired the words for the national anthem.
Beginning Friday through Sept. 12, the aquarium is hosting Star-Spangled Friday Nights. Visitors after 5 p.m. will pay a special reduced price of $18.12. Regular admission is $35 for adults. The aquarium is open until 8 p.m. for visitors on Fridays.
Families who visit on Friday nights can join a special flag-themed scavenger hunt. Snacks and beverages also are available for purchase.
In September, the aquarium will host a special lecture entitled “The Battle of Baltimore: How Our Harbor Helped Define America” with an expert panel of historian and authors.
