Mayer upsets Kohlschreiber to reach Hamburg final

HAMBURG, Germany (AP) — Leonardo Mayer of Argentina upset the seventh-seeded Philipp Kohlschreiber 7-5, 6-4 to reach the Hamburg Open final on Saturday.

The 46th-ranked Mayer converted four of his seven break chances.

He did not drop a set in five matches on his way to the final, where he will play top seed David Ferrer or 17-year-old Alexander Zverev, who is playing in his hometown tournament.

Mayer is bidding for his first ATP title after losing in his maiden final to Fabio Fognini at Vina del Mar in February.
