E. Virginia Medical School tuition to increase

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Eastern Virginia Medical School’s board has approved a 2 percent increase in in-state tuition for the upcoming academic year.

Tuition for out-of-state health profession students will increase 4 percent. Out-of-state medical students’ tuition will remain unchanged.

The Virginian-Pilot (http://bit.ly/1mGHN2D ) reports that the medical school’s Board of Visitors approved the in-state tuition increase Tuesday, along with a 2 percent pay raise for employees. Board members also increased the stipend for medical residents by 2 percent.

The increases are part of a $234 million operating budget approved for the fiscal year that begins July 1.
