NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — A Chesterfield County woman faces up to 20 years in prison after admitting her role in a Medicaid billing scheme.
Allison Hunter-Evans is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 16.
The Virginian-Pilot (http://bit.ly/1oSqNcR ) reports that the 46-year-old North Chesterfield resident pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court to alteration of records.
According to the indictment, Hunter-Evans was an employee of the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Development Services who worked on weekends for W. Wayne Perry Jr. of Suffolk. Hunter-Evans audited patient charts for Perry’s home health-care business, Community Personal Care.
Hunter-Evans admitted in court that she knew Perry was submitting fraudulent claims to the Virginia Medicaid program, and that she altered records to hide the scheme.
Perry is scheduled to stand trial Aug. 26. He has denied the charges.
