Padres’ Grandal injures hand against Arizona

PHOENIX (AP) — San Diego Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal left in the seventh inning of a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks after being hit on the back of his glove hand by a swinging bat.

Grandal was injured Tuesday night when Arizona’s Paul Goldschmidt swung on a pitch and hit the back of his glove, a play that led to a catcher’s interference call.

Grandal immediately headed toward the dugout and slammed his glove to the ground as he walked down the steps. He entered the game hitting .200 and was 0 for 3 with a pair of strikeouts against the Diamondbacks.
