LEESBURG, Va. (AP) — A 43-year-old man has been charged in a warrant with murder in the fatal stabbing of his girlfriend at her Leesburg condominium.
Leesburg police say Marco Corletto critically wounded himself by stabbing his own arms after he fatally stabbed 31-year-old Roxana Rico on Friday afternoon.
Corletto is under police watch while he’s being treated at Inova Fairfax Hospital. Once he’s released, he’ll be taken into custody.
Police say two school-age children lived with Rico and are being cared for by Loudoun County Family Services until they are released to relatives.
The slaying was the first homicide in Leesburg this year. Corletto has residences in both Leesburg and New Jersey.
