4-year-old boy dies at Glen Burnie birthday party

WASHINGTON — Anne Arundel County police have reported the death of a 4-year-old boy in what they are calling a “tragic accident” in Glen Burnie, Md., on Saturday afternoon.

Police have confirmed that Jaden Dixon was a guest at a birthday party at the 100 block of Marley Creek Drive, when he got away from the gated backyard and walked to a small pier by Marley Creek. After three to five minutes someone noticed he was missing. Shortly thereafter, according to police, he was found floating in the creek.

Guests rushed to the pier, jumped in and pulled out Dixon, who was not breathing. CPR was administered by a nurse on hand. Police were called at about 5:30. Paramedics arrived and took Dixon to Baltimore-Washington Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The Crisis Response Team responded to the scene to assist witnesses and family members, while a police investigation proceeded. “Early indication is that this was a tragic accident,” police said.
