WASHINGTON — A 33-year-old man was shot and killed by a D.C. police officer Sunday night, police say.
It happened on the playground of the Plummer Elementary School, at Texas Avenue and C Street in Southeast, around 10:15 p.m. Police received a call from a neighbor reporting that someone was walking around the school with a handgun.
When they arrived, they ordered the suspect to drop the weapon. He refused, the police said, and an officer shot him.
He was taken to Prince George’s County Hospital, where he died.
Plummer Elementary School is open and will have class Monday.
