WASHINGTON — A great coffee shop needs to have great coffee, of course — but it also needs to have a knowledgeable staff, good accompanying pastries and other foods and a comfortable atmosphere, whether it’s cozy and old-fashioned or sparsely modern.
That’s what The Daily Meal says, and they’ve picked America’s 50 best coffee shops. A local spot has not only made the list, but ranked in the top five.
Peregrine Espresso came in fifth on the nationwide list because it “not only makes great coffee, they have created an excellent atmosphere and provide stellar customer service,” according to The Daily Mail.
One of Peregrine’s baristas told The Daily Meal that one of Peregrine’s strong points was “the energy between baristas and customers,” and “talking about specialty coffee to customers is something that we really want to focus on and share without overly geeking out on customers.”
Peregrine Espresso has locations in Eastern Market and the 14th Street corridor as well as weekends at Union Market.
