WASHINGTON — A man was shot and killed by police during a Northwest raid in an apartment not far from Union Station Tuesday morning, Metropolitan Police Chief Cathy Lanier says.
The man was identified as 19-year-old Daquan Hendrix of Hyattsville, Md.
A task force made up of U.S. Marshals, Metropolitan Police Department officers and other agencies were trying to track down and take Hendrix into custody for a murder investigation. They found him in an apartment on K Street.
“The suspect came outside with a firearm and opened fire on the officers. There was an exchange of gunfire. The suspect has died,” Lanier said.
Hendrix was wanted in the Feb. 27 killing of 19-year-old Tykia Dickerson.
Several people reported hearing gunshots around 6:30 a.m. near K Street Northwest, off of North Capitol Street.
