WASHINGTON — A concrete spill on northbound Interstate 395 caused major delays for commuters Monday morning.
A truck carrying wet concrete spilled the concrete on the right lane of northbound I-395 north of Glebe Road at about 7 a.m. As crews arrived, the concrete began to dry to the roadway complicating the clean-up process.
For about two hours, only three lanes got by to the left, causing delays of up to 20 miles on I-395. By 9:30 a.m., only the right shoulder was blocked.
A crash in the delay caused even more backups around 9 a.m.
No one sustained injuries in the incident. Officials have not yet said what caused the concrete to spill on the roadway.
