911 calls released in Ruthanne Lodato murder

WASHINGTON — Shortly after a killer shot Ruthanne Lodato in her Alexandria home, the caregiver working there took off to a neighbor’s house to call 911.

The recording of that call reveals urgency and some panic but also a murky understanding of what had actually happened in the home.

The Washington Post released the 911 recording after a Freedom of Information Act request.

While the call does not detail a shooting or even a description of the shooter, the caregiver does say the intruder was still in the home as she left to get help.
