WASHINGTON — Watch this video once and you might think twice about texting and driving at the same time again.
Fort Myers, Fla., resident Michael James Woody was trying to do both on Jan. 4 when police say he lost control of his vehicle, causing it to crash and rollover at the side of the road.
Woody, 23, admitted to police that he was texting and took his eye off the roadway, according to Fort Myers-based Wink-TV News. He was unharmed in the incident, but was cited for careless driving and texting while driving.
“Texting and driving is a serious epidemic. We hope the in-car video in this incident is a wake-up call to those that text and drive”, said police spokesman Lieutenant Victor Medico.
