WASHINGTON — Lane closures and Metro train work are the norm on weekends in the Washington, D.C. region. And, this one will be no different.
I-95 Express Lanes Project
The I-95 Express Lanes Project will account for much of the weekend closures including:
- The right shoulder will be closed on the ramp from I-95 North to Loisdale Road North.
- The right lane will be closed on I-95 North just beyond the Gordon Boulevard (Route 123) overpass for bridge conduit work. From there to about one mile south of Lorton Road (Route 642), the right shoulder will be closed.
- The left lane will be closed on I-95 South at Franconia Road (Route 644) for barrier moves. When that work has been completed, the crew will close the left lane farther south on I-95 South from just north of the Fairfax County Parkway (Route 286) to about half a mile southward for barrier moves and paving.
I-395 North
The left lane will be closed on I-395 North from I-495 to Exit 2, Edsall Road (Route 648) for drainage activity.
The right shoulder will be closed on I-395 North and South about one half-mile north of Duke Street (Route 236).
There will be a full closure of the I-95/I-395 HOV Lanes from the Pentagon to Dumfries for barrier placement, drilled shafts, demolition and hauling away of concrete. (Detour: Traffic will be directed to stay on the main line.)
The ramp from Duke Street (Route 236) East to I-395 South will be closed for sound wall work. (Detour: Traffic will be directed to I-395 North to exit 4B, Seminary Road (Route 420) West, then follow signs to I-395 South.)
I-495 Capital Beltway
On I-495, the Capital Beltway bridge over Clara Barton Parkway in Montgomery County, will have single-lane closures on the inner loop Sunday from 5 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. for routine bridge inspection.
On Rock Creek Parkway drivers should expect lane closures between Beach Drive and P Street for electrical work between 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday.
On Sunday, drivers should also expect single lane closures on eastbound Suitland Parkway between Irving Avenue and Southern Avenue for underground utility work. That will take place between 7 p.m and 6 p.m. One lane of traffic will remain open during the work period.
