CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) – Federal authorities say an associate dean and professor at the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce has been charged with distributing child pornography.
According to federal court records, Michael G. Morris is accused of sharing pornographic videos on an Internet peer-to-peer network.
The Daily Progress reports (http://bit.ly/1dRCZFP) that FBI agents said they downloaded more than 17 child pornography videos directly from Morris’ Internet address.
UVa spokesman McGregor McCance said Morris has been suspended and the university is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
Morris is being held without bond following a Wednesday appearance in federal court. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 18 in federal court in Harrisonburg.
Court records show Morris is being represented by a federal public defender. A phone message was not immediately returned Friday. — Information from: The Daily Progress, http://www.dailyprogress.com
