WASHINGTON – Cold, blustery conditions are hitting the region Tuesday, with the possibility of a few snowflakes through the day.
A cold front passed through early Tuesday bringing scattered rain showers and snow to some parts of the region.
“Don’t expect any major impact from this, whatsoever,” says Doug Hill, ABC7’s chief meteorologist.
ABC7 meteorologist Brian van de Graaff says although it was not be too chilly Tuesday morning, the cold air will continue to make its way through the region and create chilly, blustery conditions.
“We will see our temperatures drop and then kind of level off in the low 40s and, I will tell you, with the winds picking up this afternoon, it will feel like upper 20s to the low 30s. So it’s going to be bitterly cold,” van de Graaff says. “It’s going to get colder. Don’t dress for the now, dress for the later.”
Roadways will be too warm for the snow to stick. The best shot for moisture looks to be along and east of Interstate 95.
“It’s just an early warning sign from mother nature that winter is on the way,” Hill says.
Also, van de Graaff echoes Hill’s sentiments, saying the spotty moisture “doesn’t look too impressive.”
He says kids can turn their pajamas inside-out in the hopes of getting a day off from school, but the bottom line is that “school’s happening.”
