WASHINGTON – Montgomery County police arrested two people in connection to the fatal shooting of a Germantown, Md., woman over the weekend.

On Sunday, police arrested 62-year-old Baldeo Taneja and 63-year-old Raminder Kaur after 49-year-old Preeta Paul Gabba’s death Saturday in Germantown.

Police say officers responded to the 19700 block of Crystal Rock Drive at about 7:45 a.m. Saturday after reports of gunshots, and found Gabba in the street suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Emergency crews transported Gabba to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Police say witnesses reported seeing a woman walking near Gabba at the time of the shooting. The woman left the scene before police arrived, according to officials.

Detectives later developed information that suggested Gabba’s former husband, Taneja, and his current wife, Kaur — both of Nashville, Tenn. — were in Montgomery County on Friday and Saturday, and police say the pair also purchased two guns in Nashville on Sept. 28.

Taneja also was scheduled to be in a Montgomery County courtroom Thursday for a hearing on a domestic issue, but officials say he failed to appear.

On Sunday, Montgomery County detectives traveled to Nashville and, with the help of local detectives, arrested Taneja and Kaur. Both have been charged as fugitives from justice in Nashville, and were awaiting extradition to Montgomery County.
