Chevy Chase Site Chosen For Early Voting — The Montgomery County Board of Elections on Monday designated nine early voting sites for the 2014 Gubernatorial Primary and General Elections. Included is the Jane E. Lawton Community Recreation Center in Chevy Chase. The sites should be approved by the state Board of Elections in time for primary early voting from June 12 to June 19 and general early voting from Oct. 23 and Oct. 30. Former IRS Chief Volunteers For County Board — Lois Lerner, a main target for criticism in the IRS Tea Party scandal, wants to volunteer for Montgomery County’s Grants Advisory Group. The Bethesda resident retired from the IRS earlier this year. Local Republicans are urging the County Council to reject her application. [The Gazette]

Strathmore Student Concerts — More than 11,500 MCPS fifth graders will come to the Music Center at Strathmore this week for the concert hall’s annual classical music performances for students. In seven concerts over four days, the National Philharmonic will reinforce musical concepts and give the kids a chance to participate in the grand finale — Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture.” Strathmore, GEICO, Jordan Kitt’s Music and the Paul M. Angell Family Foundation contribute $124,000 for the program and a total of $248,000 for a similar program for second graders.
