For about two hours last night, about 1,300 Pepco customers near Suburban Hospital were without power.

Many didn’t understand why, but Pepco spokesperson Marcus Beal said a ground fault is to blame. Homes and traffic signals were without power along Old Georgetown Road from about 7 p.m. to 9:07 p.m., when Pepco repaired the fault, Beal said.

A Pepco crew was working this morning along northbound Old Georgetown Road near NIH.
