Fans have a chance to get close to the Redskins

WASHINGTON – If you haven’t been down to Richmond to watch the Redskins at training camp, there is still plenty of time, beginning with Saturday’s annual Fan Appreciation Day.

Crowds have averaged around 10,000 a day for the first eight days of camp, and the Redskins expect Saturday’s audience may double that.

Fan Appreciation Day gives fans the chance to take pictures with their favorite players and win prizes such as autographed helmets and jerseys; the team will also spend extra time signing autographs.

The gates will open at 9 a.m. and the event starts at noon. The team advises that you should arrive very early, due to the large crowd expected.

The team also reminds fans that there are no bleachers at the Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center, so attendees shouldn’t forget to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
