WASHINGTON – Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder expressed a strong opinion when USA TODAY asked if he’d consider changing the team’s name.
“We will never change the name of the team,” he said.
The newspaper then asked if he’d change the name if the team lost an “ongoing federal trademark lawsuit.”
Snyder replied, “We’ll never change the name. It’s that simple. NEVER — you can use caps.”
Snyder said he was a lifelong Redskins fan and feels fans understand the team’s “great tradition and what it means.”
