D.C. area heat leads to heat restrictions on area rails

WASHINGTON – The region’s unusually high temperatures are leading to some heat restrictions on area railways.

MARC is warning passengers to expect heat-related speed restrictions on the Camden and Brunwick Lines for Wednesday afternoon.

Trains will travel at reduced speeds, with 5 to 15 minute delays possible.

On VRE’s Frederickburg line, officials are warning trains are likely to experience delays from 10 to 15 minutes, due to heat restrictions.

The heat delayed VRE train 301 about 15 minutes Wednesday afternoon.
