Georgetown has seen its share of businesses close in recent years, but the Georgetown Business Improvement District is touting the new businesses that have taken their place — 26 of them in 2012.
The addition of more than two dozen businesses in the D.C.neighborhood last year follows 29 new restaurants, retailers and other businesses in each of the previous two years.
One of Georgetown’s highest-profile additions is the Nike store, which occupies the site of the Barnes & Noble M Street store that closed at the end of 2011.
Georgetown is also getting two new boutique hotels this year: The Graham, in the former Hotel Monticello space; and the Capella, in a renovated building previously home to the American Trial Lawyers Association. The hotels also adding bars and restaurants to Georgetown’s retail inventory.
